One day per week at Learner Me during the school year
At Learner Me, you don’t just learn theory, you apply those learnings directly into developing real-world tech projects and doing so with industry professionals as your facilitator.
In the Taranaki Tech Academy, you’ll spend one day a week away from school at the Learner Me New Plymouth campus. You’ll be a crucial member of a team of 20 fellow high school students who together will gain experience and industry-relevant skills as you bring a working tech project to life.
HOW IT WORKS
The first and second terms of the year are devoted to developing your skills and to working as a team to bring to market a real-word software project.
You’ll learn all the different roles involved in developing a new tech solution and have the opportunity to specialise in a role of your choosing. These roles include:
Technology Project Manager
User Experience Designer
In term four, you and your team will launch the project to the client and to the market. During this critical stage, you’ll develop and apply presentation, stakeholder management and marketing skills. Applicaants will go through an interview process before confirming their place in the Academy.
You’ll earn up to 15 NZQA credits at Level 3 (School Year 13). The experience you’ll gain and skills you’ll learn will be a perfect building block for a future career in the tech sector.
